Read what our students say about us!

Barbara and Michael Tasevoli, Delaware

A good teacher is one who is knowledgeable, able to communicate with the student, and recognizes when extra attention is needed and gives it gladly.

Amanda Showell has these traits and much, much more. She has a true understanding of how to teach dancing, knows how to motivate students and always thinks on the positive and knows when to lighten the atmosphere. And lastly and just as important, Amanda isn’t just interested in ballroom dancing ……she is passionate about it and clearly transmits this attitude to her students.

Hi Sandra & Amanda, I have moved to Saratoga Springs, NY and have taken a job here. It has been about a month since I left Easton. I have seen a lot of centers, museums, etc for dance and right now the NYC ballet is here. I am hoping to get to it next weekend. However, there will never be another team like you and Amanda. You really helped me to find a less “inhibited” self where I could hear and feel the music. I will miss your nonjudgmental teaching and want to say “thank you for all your patience, encouragement and instruction. ”

With appreciation,

Deborah B

Wow!  What a great experience it has been since we first stumbled into one of Amanda’s classes a year ago.  The classes are fun, Amanda has undying patience, a great sense of humor, and the amazing ability to teach couples with four left feet how to dance.  We will be attending for as long as our bodies allow. :)

Thanks Amanda! For an incredible time – every time!

My husband and I both love to dance but for one reason or another in our busy lives we put off taking lessons. Then we retired and moved to the Eastern Shore and Dancing On The Shore was right there when we needed it. Retirement is an adjustment. It’s tempting to feel that your best years are behind you, also easy to gain weight and care far less about exercise and appearance. Although my husband had a specific style of dance that he wanted to learn that seemed hard to find I thought that it was important to take any of the styles offered and just start. We began with East Coast Swing which seemed the one we might dance to in most social dancing situations. The class was fun, the teaching professional and encouraging, and we were eager to learn more. It has been as important for my husband to learn to lead as for me to learn to follow — an interesting dynamic for us considering that I have a very outgoing personality and my husband is more reserved. Dancing also challenges our minds– we’re working together, and it’s great exercise that has helped me lose weight and to gain a wonderful feeling of vitality. For four years now we have thoroughly enjoyed learning a variety of dance styles, a diversity of teachers and venues, and putting our dance skills to use at many of the various dances and dance parties in the area. Whether it’s for a lesson or for a dance I enjoy getting a little sprazzed up, putting sparkle back in my life and Alan really appreciates that he can be completely casual. We’ve also met many interesting people through our dancing. Now an important, regular, and pleasurable part of our life, dancing contributes a lot to the good quality of our life here and hopefully into the future. Dancing On The Shore has given us all the support we needed.
